? how is this a Lightroom issue, is MagicLantern a Plugin for Lightroom?
Is it compatible with LR 6?
Have you queried this with the producers of MagicLantern?
MagicLantern is not a Plugin for Lightroom, it is a third party firmware which runs on some Canon camera's giving them extra functionality. One of these is to to create dual-iso images which are converted into a DNG file.
The issue is that Lightroom 6 does not correctly recognise the file, creating an overexposed image, whilst in Lightroom 5.7 and Photoshop the same image is correctly imported. I believe there is an issue with the way Lightroom 6 is handling the file as the other Adobe products correctly import the image.
I have raised the issue with MagicLantern on their forum, I don't know if they can change the file so that Lightroom 6 correctly imports it, but as the file is correctly imported by Photoshop and Lightroom 5.7 there doesn't appear to be an issue with MagicLantern.
Sure its MagicLantern's problem they need to make the file compatible with Lightroom 6.
I'm not sure of your logic.
Lightroom 5.7 - WORKS
Lightroom 6.0 NOT WORKING
PS it would be nice if someone could see if they could replicate my results using the original DNG file.
I guess we will have to wait and see who fixes what.
A quick look at the posted DNG shows it's a little "funky". E.g., it has a CalibrationIlluminant2 tag, but no corresponding ColorMatrix2. If Adobe have changed the behavior of LR 6 to assume that the presence of a CalibrationIlluminant2 means they should use a default ColorMatrix2 if one isn't found, that could be an issue.
Thanks for looking at the file.
I would like to test the file by removing the CalibrationIlluminant2 tag or adding a ColorMatrix2 tag with the same values as the ColorMatrix1 tag, but I can't work how to do it with the exif editors I have tried.
I'm not sure if this is the issue, as I have found another dng file created from an dual-iso image taken with a Canon 6D which has the same "funky" tags but works fine in Lightroom 6. (Dropbox - IMG_0828.DNG)
Maybe I just have an issue with my installs of Lightroom 6 (on two different PC's). It would be nice if someone could replicate my issue by testing the file (Dropbox - magiclanterndualiso.DNG)on both Lightroom 5.7 and Lightroom 6.
