Why does my video cut in half the length after making it 60fps?

So i'm trying to make a gameplay video and i'm using after effects to edit and render my video. But for some reason when I import it into to my composition instantly gives me an error ''After Effects error: overflow converting ratio denominators ( 17 : 18 )". But to get around that error I just interpret the video into 60 fps versus the original "59.904" which causes that error. But after I do that i'm faced with a different problem. The video cuts into half the length of the original so going from 16 minutes to 8 and all that happens when I change the frame rate from 59.904 to 60. Please tell me what i'm doing wrong or if there is something I can do to fix this.
