One guess is that you may have changed your LR defaults to a specific lens profile and that profile is missing on your computer. Your LR defaults should be Auto or Default not a specific profile.
You set your LR defaults by holding down the Alt key and click on the Set Defaults… button that was Reset before pressing Alt. This operation will copy all the settings from whatever photo you have loaded and make all those your LR defaults at least for your particular camera. sually you were trying to change one aspect of the LR defaults not realizing some other settings had also been set. Without knowing if you might have done this or what you might have been trying to accomplish if you did, it’s hard to advice what to do, now.
Normally you want to set your LR defaults from a photo that has just been imported or you’ve just Reset back to factory defaults, before adjusting the one or two parameters you want to change in the LR defaults.
Thanks for your help ssprengel.
I am relative new to Lightroom and can not find the LR Defaults as you mentioned. I looked at Preferences, Presets, Default Develop settings and think I look in the wrong place. Can you you please let me know where to find the Set Defaults button, and is it in Library or Develop mode?
Go to Develop. Press the Alt key. The Reset button will change to Set Defaults... That is how you change your LR defaults to the current image settings.
The LR Defaults aren't anywhere, they are the settings that an image initially has after import (assuming you didn't apply a preset) as well as the settings an image has after you click Reset.
Ok, I see what happens, thanks. These settings are applied to the selected image and on new imported images be default.
When you set your LR Defaults to the current image that combination of settings becomes the new LR Default and is applied to newly imported images as well as when you click Reset.
