No problems with that here in CC 2015.

It could also be a file which has a corrupt graphic or font. Try making a PDF of one-half of the document, then the other half. If one half works, there is a problem in the other half. Continuing dividing to isolation the page and the graphic or font causing the problem.
Thanks for your reply, Steve. This definitely seems to be a bug - perhaps to do with conversion to the new release.
I took your advice and tested converting a subset of chapters. This worked up to a specific point, then I encountered the crash. Upon restarting InDesign, the last chapter in the subset I tried to convert was listed with an exclamation mark. I opened then closed the chapter marked, then attempted a conversion including that chapter. InDesign did not crash.
I then tested converting another subset which included the next chapter in the series. InDesign crashed and the above behavior looped.
What font(s) are you using? It could be a corrupted font. Can you try substituting a different font(s)?
You could also post a portion of the project to see if anyone else has a problem creating a PDF file.
