Are you talking about the print driver? I was unable to locate a RIP for that printer. That doesn't mean one does not exist. I just couldn't find one ( Colorburst, Efi Fiery, etc. ). I was able to locate a driver update for Yosemite on Epson.com. Yosemite is OSX 10.10.3+. Because that is a photographic printer, you're probably better off using a driver rather than a RIP.
Thanks for your response! YES, my bad-- I AM running 10.10.3--correct for Yosemite
I have been in touch with Colorburst and trying [so far, not successfully] to test run their RIP.
My Printer Driver is, could be better. Years ago I was told --for all my Epsons-- I needed a RIP for accurate proofing. But you could be right--maybe drivers have improved & I should stop being so driven about this...I use Photoshop primarily, and InDesign secondarily.
That is not a proof printer. Have you considered the Epson Stylus Pro 3880/ps? Comes bundled with an Efi Postscript Level 3 RIP or the Epson Stylus Pro 4900/ps comes with optional internal spectrophotometer and RIP. Those are industry standard proofers. Use the 1400 for standard office type prints and photography and get a proofer you can use as a contract proofing device.
When I use my generic Epson Sty Photo 1400, if a tiff doesn't have an embedded CMYK, should I
1. leave as it [don't color manage]
2. assign working CMYK--have been usiong US Web Coated SWOP2
3. Assign Profile from Epson PRX paper selection
