    Very slow to respond?

      I have been playing with the characters...

      and the movement is very laggy/slow to respond,

      jerky and missing moves. Is this normal?

      or is it  possible my  Webcam is  not up to the job?


      Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

      2x Intel Xeon CPU E5-2650 0 @ 2.00GHz

      32.0GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro K5000

      Logitech C270 HD Webcam

          There are a lot of variables that affect performance.


          * Try changing your scene frame rate(select the scene in the project panel and change the frame rate in the properties panel)

          * try turning off the camera and/or microphone in the camera & microphone panel. Manipulate your character using the mouse. Is it still laggy?


          What does "jerky and missing moves" mean? It does sound like you're having a frame rate issue.

            Tried with Cam off and using the mouse, it is

            slow and jerky also... seems even the buttons react slowly.

            The whole program runs slow

            I'm not used to that and find it very irritating.

              To get an idea of what the framerate should be, watch the tutorials ( Character Animator Tutorials ). If Ch is running too slowly on your machine, please try again with Preview 2 when it's ready -- we are optimizing some things now.

                Some things to check:

                • Is the project on a SSD or HDD?
                • Are there other applications (e.g., web browsers with lots of tabs open, other applications) open? If so, does closing them and/or running Character Animator after restarting your machine help?
                • If you have a background virus scanning, system backup, or search indexing program running, try either turning them off temporarily or, in the case of a background virus scanner, skip scanning of the parent folder containing your Character Animator projects.
