I already tried with rules off and rules on, sure, with rules off it makes the scrolling and dragging smoother, but it wont fix the overall lag Im experiencing.

lovemy adobestuff Jun 18, 2015 1:37 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)Same here on PC and slow with 24 Cores, 96GB RAM on Nvidia Quardo 6000 with RAID 0 array for scratch disk.
Photoshop CC 2014 runs acceptably fast but Photoshop CC 2015 - Sloooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
I use the rulers so left them turned on just like I did in PS CC 2014. Is disabling rulers a new feature in 2015 that's designed to kill the app?
Looking at resources, with plenty of free memory available, it appears PS CC 2015 doesn't seem to want to use memory but is instead sending a lot of R/W action to disk.

7. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
Farrellart Jun 18, 2015 1:34 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)New isn't always the best...rulers shouldn't be a deal breaker in CC.
Also what's the point in having RAM if PS relies to much on R/W action, that seems backward to me.....I'm not upgrading for now as I need a system that is stable for professional work. I have commissions to finish.

Macbook Pro Retina Late 2012 with 8GB ram 650M graphics. spinning disk, lag, delay, saving is slow as ****. 90GB free on SSD internal and its a pain to work on even low res files. 2014 didn't have any problems like this. And also the export as replacing save for web is a piece of crap.

9. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
dr_rock9000 Jun 25, 2015 8:36 AM (in response to DG. David Escalante)I have been experiencing the same issues. Sluggish performance while panning and zooming, lots of intermittent spinning wheel, and the occasional lock-up to where I cannot switch between tools. Disabling the rulers and the Transformational Values as discussed in the following thread seemed to help for a few minutes but eventually the performance of the program slowed down to a crawl thereby making it unusable. I also increased the memory usage to 85% but to no avail. After rebooting for the 12th time in two days, I am going to downgrade back to 2014 until the issue is resolved.

Bonkersforever Jul 17, 2015 5:17 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)I was wondering if it was just me. I don't think it's a coincidence that my machine bogs down when I am using PS 2015. Photoshop is often very slow; jams up after a few hrs; binds up my entire machine. CC 2014 was not like this at all.
This is pretty frustrating, especially when I am trying to wrap things up at the end of the day.

estdesigns Jul 29, 2015 4:04 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)Yep, I've got this issue too with major delays and lag time with everything in Photoshop CC 2015's UI. Everything in the app takes so long to respond that I end up dragging layers and layer groups to the wrong spots, dragging items off-screen. All the menus and palette items are so slow to respond that I end up clicking on something in the background which screws everything up.

23. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
Bonkersforever Aug 7, 2015 11:15 AM (in response to DG. David Escalante)Has anybody discovered, or even speculated at, root causes of the CC2015 slowdown (or if it is a global problem, not just limited to a small group of users)? I'm not talking about "fixes" or stop-gaps like turning off rulers or reverting to CC2014 (which I have, btw), but the reality of what could be bogging down CC2015?
Note:
Since I pulled CC2015 I haven't experimented with this, but my co-worker turned off his wifi connection and claims that it ran at more normal speeds. Again, this is certainly not a fix or, hardyhar!, a "feature", but could give an indication as to where the problems lie.
Hey, I have faith that Adobe is all over this, so I don't mean to tell anybody their business. As a fan and everyday user, I only hope that it is rectified soon.

24. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
DG. David Escalante Aug 10, 2015 10:11 AM (in response to Bonkersforever)I just tested Photoshop CC2015 on a Windows PC (Windows 10) and it runs... it runs like a dream come true, its extremely smooth and responsive, and its running in a standard HDD, not even a SDD.
I have no idea if blame to Adobe or Apple, but the horrible performance in OSX still happening even with the latest CC 2015 updates.

25. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
annieminton Aug 16, 2015 2:27 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)I'll never again update any Adobe products when first released until I've waited a month to see what other people experience. That's if I continue to use Adobe CC. Photoshop has the worst lag of them all, but Illustrator and In Design are similarly impossible to use. I wasted a morning trying to talk to 'support' people who had NO IDEA what to do and whose first language definitely wasn't English which just adds to the frustration level as you try to wade through heavy accented questions, apologies and instructions. I would re-install the 2014 CC but I DONT HAVE THE TIME ADOBE! Having just worked a couple of weeks without a day off due to this incredible fiasco, I yesterday purchased and downloaded Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. I feel my time will be better spent learning a new product which people are raving about, instead of persevering with a cumbersome crock which has cost me so much valuable time and money. Given that so many people are having these lag issues, how could they have not struck this during testing?????? Or perhaps they just threw it out there for us to test.

26. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
gener7 Aug 16, 2015 8:46 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)I recently helped a poster who had a 4GB psb file, and it was taking 4 minutes to save both to the local and external disk on a recent model Mac.
What she found out was that by reducing the History States from the default 50 down to 20 greatly improved the speed. I've noticed this myself. So if Photoshop CC 2015 is sluggish for you, go into Prefernces > Performance and set the History States to 20. Restart PS for the setting to take effect.
Also look here: Optimize performance | Photoshop
for more advice.

I'm curious what specifically is slow when you're comparing Mac & Windows performance with CC 2015? You report that the app runs like a dream on Win 10, but sluggish on OS X.
Have you tried:
1. Disable font previews - Type > Font Preview Size > None
2. Disabling Libraries panel - close the panel and quit and re-launch PS
Do either help Mac performance?
Thanks,
Adam

estdesigns Aug 17, 2015 1:41 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)Yep, I posted on here about two weeks ago and whaddya know, Photoshop is back to complete crawl today. Not only do I lose valuable time just to the lagging application, but I keep creating errors and problems because the app stalls for so long that I end up clicking and dragging things that I'm not intending too.
I really do believe it has something to do with the fact that we're all connected to the Adobe monopoly now, all the time.

While I'm not recommending permanently disabling your wi-fi, it would be helpful if everyone could try temporarily disabling it to see if that helps with performance. That would help us narrow down what's causing the problem.
Please let me know if it helps in your case.

33. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
serewrw Aug 18, 2015 6:33 AM (in response to DG. David Escalante)I feel the same way. Photoshop 2015.1 just feels sluggish. It starts with the startup. PS 2014 is ready to use immediately when I see the user interface, while PS 2015 is unresponsive for 5-10 seconds. The whole PC slows down when the program is loading. Other operations feel slower too. Simple stuff like zooming in or out on an image in the backgroun when a filter window has the focus is faster in 2014 compared to 2015. Same goes for loading images.
I couldn't stand 2015.1 and went back to 2014.

Disregard the suggestion to disable wifi.
I have two more tests that I'd like everyone to try to see if it helps with PS CC 2015.1 performance.
1. Disable Device Preview - choose Window > Device Preview and then use the fly-out menu to close the window (quit and re-launch after this step)
2. Disable Generator - go to Preferences > Plug-ins and uncheck "Enable Generator" (quit and re-launch after this step too)
Do either of these changes help with overall performance?
Thanks,
Adam

35. Re: Photoshop CC 2015 is so slow it is unusable on my system
Bonkersforever Aug 18, 2015 11:36 AM (in response to Adam Jerugim)Hi,
Followed instructions. I'd say that #1 didn't do anything.
However, adding #2 might have helped a bit: I noticed less lag when I switched, via keyboard, from tool to tool (Marquee is a big offender. But then again, Text Tool and others did as well. Might not matter which tool I am choosing?). I'd say that, yes, overall there was an improvement in lagtime after step #2.
Interesting, that, in general, there were times when I was just looking at cc2015 and the beachball would appear. What is it thinking about, processing, who's it talking to? Even while I am doing literally nothing? Hm!
(it's often very spotty. For instance, I poked around at my deliberately chosen 2300px wide image with the Eraser and things bogged down and yet a few seconds later I was erasing all I wanted with no issues. Ah, but then switch TASKS like just deselecting via keyboard shortcut and the beachball appears. Only for about 1-2secs, but it happened. However, if I am using the Marquee tool and deselect, I don't think I have seen the beachball)

Bonkersforever Aug 18, 2015 12:51 PM (in response to gener7)gener7,
I just tried that on your recommendation. Doesn't seem to have an appreciable effect.
If anything speeds up performance, it might be working with a smaller version of the same image. Ehhhh...but even then I get lag at the most odd of times; just now I zoomed into my 20%-of-original-size image and got a beachball for a few moments. It's hard to predict!

Tidal Wave Creative Aug 18, 2015 1:36 PM (in response to DG. David Escalante)I just updated my Photoshop CS 2015 and the application has become completely unresponsive. If I open a file or try to change a Preferences setting I get the spinning beach ball and it just spins and spins and spins. To make matters worse PS CS 2014 is also not usable. I have to force quite the applications. Luckily I kept CS6 still and that version works. Illustrator CS 2015 works as does InDesign CS 2015 and Dreamweaver 2015.
Why have we software purchasers become the bug testers for multimillion dollar corporations too cheap to do it themselves? I've wasted a half day trying to find a solution to be able to work for my clients. So frustrating!!! Not OK Adobe!!!
