I have exactly the same problem! Would be grateful if anyone had a solution to this!
Here is the workaround I discovered for this problem:
1. Create a table in InDesign with the same number of columns and rows as your Excel spreadsheet.
2. Select all the cells in the Excel spreadsheet that you want to place in your InDesign file, and copy them.
3. Select the entire table in InDesign so that all the cells are highlighted.
4. Paste the copied cells from Excel into the InDesign table.
This worked for me. I hope it works for you!
Windows or Mac?
Is this issue happening with some particular file or are you facing this with all the files ?
Are you trying to place a .xls file or .xlxs ?
With which version of MS office have you created this file ?
Have you tried restoring the preferences Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences ?
I'm having the same issue. I delete the preferences and it didn't help. Need a solution please.
