So you are suggesting that I may struggle to find a student edition of Version 5? I found a link on adobe.com to download it, or at least I thought I did!

If you can find a copy, you can simply validate the trial with the serial number from the box. No further installation required.

Yes. You can get upgrade pricing from any previous version of LR 1 through 5.
