like all cheap NAS solutions. Useable for backup purposes.
Thank you for your feedback.
What would you recommend as external storage on a home 1G LAN for media/cache/previews?
Don't do that. 1 Gbe is way too slow, even much slower than a 5400 RPM disk on SATA 3G (which does not even meet Adobe minimum requirements). Use local SSD storage connected to m.2 or SATA 6G only for media cache, preferably a Samsung SM951 m.2 drive or a Samsung 850 Pro regular SATA SSD.
A really suboptimal solution might be dual 10 Gbe teamed connections between the PC and NAS (with a decent CPU and 4 GB or more memory in the NAS) but even that is way slower than a single internal SSD.
