SSD would be the faster option for sure. It really depends on how much space you want to use, and what you have available.
XMP isn't related to the cache, so no.
Thanks for you're reply...
The Raw cache is filling up my OS SSD
I would like to Know if I where to put the Cache on the SSD with the Lightroom Catalogue and Preview Cache, would there be a performance hit?
Or could I get away with placing it on HDD in Its own partition?
How big have you set it? It doesn't need to be spectacularly big. 10Gb is huge now-when Lightroom switched from using Tiff to Jpeg based cache information it meant you didn't need as much space for the cache.
As the SSD is pretty fast, you'd see more of a hit moving it to the HDD than the other SSD where read and write times become much longer. SSD's don't have moving parts, which was the issue with having the cache on the same HDD as the catalog an previews. The read head would have to jump to different locations to read the cache and the catalog. Not an issues with SSD.
It is set to 30gb
So if I where move it to the SSD with the Lightroom Catalogue and Preview Cache, there would be no performance hit as "SSD's don't have moving parts,"
and maybe reduce the cache size to, 10gb
What do you reckon?
It's simple to change back if you need to, but I don't believe you see a performance hit from making that change.
Thanks for your help
