1. Re: Dreamweaver Site Publish_CLICK TO ACTIVATE AND USE THIS CONTROL ERROR WHEN PUBLISHING
Newsgroup_User Dec 22, 2006 2:16 PM (in response to WebGuyDesign)It's IE-only behaviour as a result of changes Microsoft made earlier this
year to their browser, regarding how Active Content (Flash, Quicktime etc)
is handled, after losing a high profile court case.

If you're running Dreamweaver 8.0.2, the fix is already built into DW's
interface.
If not, try http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/

You don't do anything to the Flash (.swf) file(s).
The changes affect how the Flash (.swf) file is called into the HTML page.
Using the <embed> tag in the HTML code to "embed" the Flash file in the page
(which used to be the normal way of doing it) triggers the new IE behaviour.
The 8.0.2 updater calls the same Flash file via Javascript instead so the
new IE behaviour is not triggered..
Once the updater has been applied you upload the changed HTML page PLUS the
new Scripts folder, containing a Javascript file, which has just been
created by the 8.0.2 updater.
Note: DW 8.0.2 does not tell you anything about the existence of, and need
to upload, the new Scripts folder that it has just created. You're just
expected to know (or find out). Lazy programming by Adobe.

6. Re: Dreamweaver Site Publish_CLICK TO ACTIVATE AND USE THIS CONTROL ERROR WHEN PUBLISHING
*mista* Dec 22, 2006 6:27 PM (in response to WebGuyDesign)If you're using dreamweaver 8 upgrade to 8.0.2.
When you next open the webpage with the swf file, you will be prompted by dreamweaver regarding object tags ... let dreamweaver update the code and thing should work fine.
Please remember that when this is done, a folder called "Scripts" will be created in the root folder of your file and a link to that folder will be there in th ehead tags of the webpage.
When you upload the webpage, make sure that the Scripts folder and its javascript file are uploaded as well, else the swf file won't play. -
