Did you set the camera to shoot raw? CR2 are Canon raw files.
Anyway, try trashing the prefs. This is always necessary after updating OSX. Start by quitting Lightroom 5.
Launch Finder and click the Go menu whilst holding down the Option (alt) key. Then go to Library >> Preferences and clear everything relating to LR5 which usually means deleting the following files:
Then re-launch Lightroom.
Also check the privileges on the Pictures folder or sub-folder you are importing into. Right-click on it and press Cmd+i and in the info dialog ensure read and write permissions are enabled.
The Library is hidden under the Go menu until the Alt key is depressed
Yes, I do have my camera set to shoot raw. I just cleared anything relating to LR5. I have already changed the privileges as you mentioned. I just relaunched LR5 & tried to import, it says unable to preview file and once it completes the install, I am still getting the error message that the files are unsupported or damaged. I have no idea what I have done! I have imported this way since I purchased this iMac with no issues.
I appreciate your help though!!!!
Have you tried creating a new folder in finder and then copying the files from the card into that folder.
Then use Import "Add" and navigate to the new folder.
Yes, it looks as if the files are corrupted. I've been researching data recovery software. Do you have any experience with such software? Do you recommend any specific one?
Are you sure they are corrupted files? Could it be a problem with the card reader. Do you have a direct card slot on the computer or another card reader?.
Have you tried leaving the card in the camera slot and connecting the camera with a USB cable and copying the images to the computer?
When I put the card back in the camera it reads no photos! :O
Just a FYI incase anyone runs into this trouble. I ended purchasing Card Rescue $39.95 to restore my images and it worked beautifully! Thank you again 99jon for all of your help!
