    fireworks 8 100% CPU issue

    stef25
im using fireworks 8 to make site mockups. recently, the program has started to react slowly and ctrl alt del shows 100CPU usage with simple things like moving layers around. even just moving my mouse around the image makes the cpu surge. usually it takes a bit of time before it starts to act like this. the png files i create are not more than 5MB in size.

im using a dell, win xp, 2Ghz, 1GB ram. anyone know what causes this? should i just reformat my pc?

Are you creating more than one page on a single canvas?

not sure what you mean with page. there is one file open with one canvas with about 50 layers and im only looking at the "original", not "preview" or 2-up or 4-up

That's a big file size and lot of layers! Reduce the number of undo
steps and clear the History to see if that makes a difference. You can
change the undo steps via Edit > Preferences, and the History file via
              the History panel menu.

i'm working with FW8 FL8 and DW8 at the same time and the PC gets crazy, but
                works.

Your problem? the number of layers. 50

My problem? the one computer factor. Dell Celeron 1,6. Sucks, but works.

I think hidden layers reduces CPU's usage. If you can't merge some layers
try to hide the stuff you are not working for now.

                I hope may help

is ImageReady better at dealing with this many layers? the filesize is actually less than 1MB! a bit much than FW can not handle this kind of files ...

Image Ready is not a vector application, where Fireworks is. Vectors are
                    CPU intensive
