Only more questions- sorry!
Did you 'Save' the book by clicking on the Tab [Create Saved Book] ?
Did you try pressing CTRL+Z for undo? (Several times?)
Did you try clicking the white arrow on the book title in the Collections panel?
Had you done a Catalog backup at any time after doing book edits?
In the situation where I cleared my book layout by clicking on the [Clear Layout] button, I could restore by CTRL+Z, or I could return to Library- Click on the Book title in Collections, and my book was restored.
I did some of them, I have saved the book format in Create saved book. I used Ctrl-Z a dozen of times. I clicked on the book title several times. I have a back-up from the day before. I restored it but the edits I made were not restored. 3 evenings of work have vanished.
I was just about to click on create PDF to have a fixed proof of what I had made when it happened. I believe the book edits are stored in a place where I don't know. And apparently they are overwritten.
What I also find strange is that by restoring the copy of the day before I now miss page templates. Like the 3x2 landscape templates in the section "multiple templates"
= = =
= = =
Sorry multiple templates must be multple photo's.
Don't no what happened overnight but the templates are back (no de- and reinstallation of LR CC)
I am no expert, and I think your problem is out of my league. Hopefully others may chime into your problem.
What is the situation now?
If you restart Lightroom in the Library Grid module, open the collections panel, and click the white arrow for your book-
I thought by restoring a previous catalog from backups, that you might have been able to restore the book as it was at that stage.
Hi, back-up did not solve anything. Next time I will try the white arrow as well. I have re-edited the book and have to add the text. So far I think the first edit was better :-(
What I also do now is duplicate the book. This means that I at least have an earlier version. If this one is not fool proof then I don't know how I can Ensure to future issues with the book layout from Lightroom.
Thanks for your support.
duplicate the book
Brilliant suggestion- worth mentioning.
All the best for the future.
Oh- and i ALWAYS return to my book editing by clicking the 'White Arrow' in collections!
