Did you click the Extract and Copy Face Measurements button in the AE Tracker panel after the tracking finished? The help pdf at Character Animator Help (Preview 1) gives these directions for using AE face tracking in CH
To generate face data from prerecorded video:
1. In After Effects CC 2015, extract face measurements data from the video, as follows: a. Import the video footage into a composition. b. Draw a closed mask around the face, open the Tracker panel, then set Method to Face Tracking (Detailed Features). c. Click the Analyze buttons to track the mask to the face. d. Set the current time indicator to the frame representing the rest pose for the face, then click Set Rest Pose. e. Click Extract & Copy Face Measurements.
2. In Character Animator, select the puppet with both the Face behavior and its Camera Input parameters armed for record.
3. Place the playhead at the frame matching the first Face Measurements keyframe in After Effects. 4. Choose Edit > Paste.
If those instructions Jerry provided don't help, and you're willing to share the copied face measurements data with us, we can try to reproduce the issue here.
You can also use an application called Manycam(Mac/Win) to send video to CH.
I tried ManyCam and find it works very well for both video and audio, and for doing either one alone.
A nice function of CH is that you can record head motion without the audio, and then later add any audio to get the mouth.
Interesting ideas. I’m not familiar with ManyCam, but will check it out. I like the flexibility of recording the facial expressions independent of the audio. Thanks.
