...reboot, then retry didn't work
search knowledge base didn't find any answers.
1. delete a temporary downloaded file, to reset the download (but where and what file?)
2. where to find file to manually download and install?

The recommendation for that error is to create a new user account and install the update there. If successful that will update the application for all users. You can go back to your own user account and launch LR again.
