Solved the problem by turning on another webcam program (Facetime) and it seemed to stabilize the camera.
Glad you got this sorted out Geoffrey. If it keeps happening to you, we can see if there's something we can do on our end. I've seen this same behavior with a trashcan Mac Pro and the C920.
Well I do have the same problem with the C920 running Character Animator preview 4 on OSX 10.10.5.
When I start e.g. Quicktime (new movie) the cam stabilizes and I can quit QT. From then on it works in Ch as well.
I have a trashcan Mac Pro and a C920 that is flickering like crazy with the Character Animator. Opening quicktime and starting a movie recording to initialize the camer does solve the issue for a little bit but after a little while it starts back flickering. Since this is one of the big new things adobe is talking about I'm hoping this issue gets resolved.
I actually have some really cool ideas on how I want to use this but if it won't work reliably with my webcam that causes some big issues. Has any progress been made in fixing this issue in the new release?
This issue shouldn't affect your regular use of the program. I'll spend some time with our Mac Pro and C920 to see if I can find a reproducible scenario, but I don't yet have a reproducible scenario.
The workaround would be to launch Photo Booth(or another application that uses the camera). If you're having to do that more than once a day, we'll spend the time to get to the bottom of this.
I know this is an old thread, but I now have a reproducible scenario here, so I'm going to work to get the bug fixed.
Thanks so much for looking back into it! It works great on my MacBook Pro using the built in webcam so for now I'm doing all the performance recordings on that, but still having the issue on the trashcan Mac Pro with C920. Would be awesome to not have to switch between computers.
