This is a difficult job at best. Depending on the image, it can be improved somewhat in LR or even better in PS, but results are never acceptable IMHO. This is best corrected in camera before you actually take the shot. If you post the image, someone may have ideas on how to fix it.
I don't personally think it's that bad.... sure it's not perfect but it's far better than I thought it would be. The lighting has a Rembrandt look to it with the triangular illumination under the right eye (her right) and the right side of the face darker than the left. Remember you don't necessarily want flat lighting... it's boring. The light sculpts the face and really brings out her cheeks. I don't think she has panda eyes from a high, strong sun, so that's good, so you don't have to worry about fixing that.
Others might disagree, but as a starting point I'd drop the exposure back half a stop and drop the highlights and whites by 15-20%: to your taste really, and that's it.
