What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system is it running?

Regardless, Media Offline classically means that there is a disconnect between the project and its source media.

Typically you will get "Where is the file _____?" messages from the project when this condition exists when you go to open the project.

Those messages are your tools to do the reconnects of source media to project.

          This situation can result

          a. you move, delete, or rename files and folders that were imported into the project after the project has been saved closed....when you import the original files into the project, all you get are copies of the originals which remain on the computer hard drive. But, the project copies need to trace back to those originals at the location where they were when they were imported into the project.

          b. if you store the originals on an external hard drive and the external hard drive malfunctions (drive letter changes, etc.)

          c. If you are moving a project from computer to computer and you transfer the project file but not its source media.

Please review, consider, and then let us know if the above applies to you.

          Thank you.

            ATR,

The computer of record is a DELL Inspiron laptop running Adobe Premier 11 on Windows 7 (6 GB RAM, 500 GB single hard disk). The "Media offline" complaint occurred upon my playing back a disc DVD of a single clip which had had the theme "outdoor adventure" freshly downloaded and applied to it. The s ingle clip had been transferred from an identical DELL laptop running Windows 8.1. Transferred all my video from the Windows 8.1 laptop to the Windows 7 laptop due to the former's inadequate disc space and the latter being relatively flush with disc space due to its dedication to running Adobe Premiere 11 and nothing else. Was making a "test run".

Tried to click "correct" on https://forums.adobe.com/message/7694654#7694654 , but could not get the "button" to actuate.

            Thanks much for your answer.

It should have said "Adobe Premiere Elements 11" instead of "Adobe Premiere 11" ...

Thanks for the replies. Appreciated. "Outdoor Adventure" and media offline sent up flares when I saw that.

This sure sounds like the problem that I described for Instant Movie theme "Outdoor Adventure" a while back.

                http://atr935.blogspot.com/2014/01/pe-instant-movie-theme-outdoor.html

But all the pieces do not seem to fit. So, please let us go over the details.

                1. What category was the "Outdoor Adventure" coming from? From Instant Movie, Titles & Text (Travel/Outdoor Adventure and either its credits, frame, lower3rd or title) or other?

                2. Here is where the details are fuzzy for me

playing back a disc DVD of a single clip which had had the theme "outdoor adventure" freshly downloaded and applied to it. The s ingle clip had been transferred from an identical DELL laptop running Windows 8.1.

How did you get this single clip from computer 1 to computer 2? Did it get transferred embedded in the project files which you transferred from computer 1 to 2?

                Or something else?

                Right now I am suspecting

                a. that the computer 2 does not have Outdoor Adventure downloaded?

                or

                b. that or something else is not ready to use in computer 2 as it was in computer 1...project and assets may be disconnected?

Please review the above, and we will see where the details point us.

                Thank you.

                  1. What category was the "Outdoor Adventure" coming from? From Instant Movie, Titles & Text (Travel/Outdoor Adventure and either its credits, frame, lower3rd or title) or other?

Answer: It came from "Instant Movie". It "ran" with DVD along its vertical left third.

                    Thanks for the reply.

If what you are seeing was derived from Instant Movie theme Outdoor Adventure in computer 1...unless there are more details...

                    1. You need to go to the Premiere Elements 11 project file in which this Instant Movie was created (presumed on computer 1).

If you can do it there, then in the Edit area, right click the finished Instant Movie on the Timeline, and select Break Apart Instant Movie.

Then follow the instructions in the blog link provided to correct the Media Offline situation described in the blog post for Outdoor Adventure.

                    2. Once that is finished, archive the project using File Menu/Project Archiver and its Copy Project Option. A Copied Folder will be saved to the save location that you designate. The Copied Folder will have a copy of the project file plus copies of the source media and necessary assets. Transfer the Copied Folder to a USB Flash Drive. Then use the USB Flash Drive to transfer the Copied Folder to computer 2.

                    3. In computer 2, open the Copied Folder, find the project file (.prel), right click the project file (prel), and select Open With, followed by Adobe Premiere Elements 11. Make sure that the content for Premiere Elements 11 (computer 2) is downloaded and ready to be used for the features that you used for the project in computer 1...

Please review and consider, and let me know if the above is consistent with your details.

Thank you for the follow ups. Appreciated.

Thanks. Tomorrow ... "Outdoor Adventure" works fine on Windows Vista. So ... a "ramblin', gamblin', Field Engineer's" approach: run it there

, if necessary to run it ...

I hate it when that happens …

I have been working with your http://atr935.blogspot.com/2014/01/pe-instant-movie-theme-outdoor.html document.

                                Recap time.

Back in post 3 you said that you were working with Premiere Elements 11. Where did Premiere Elements 13 and even 12 come into this?

Are you working with hidden files, folders, and drives? If so, in Windows 8.1, go to File Explorer or comparable route to get to Folder Options. In Folder Options/View Tab, make sure you have a dot next to Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives.

Also, make sure that you have done the content download for Instant Movie Outdoor Adventure in the Tools Menu/Movie Menu and the display of theme thumbnails.

That Instant Movie theme Outdoor Adventure is a problem with those Media Offline displays in Premiere Elements 11, 12/12.1, and 13/13.1 on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 64 bit.

If you have any problems getting to Folder Options and dotting the Show Hidden, Files, Folders, and Drives, please let me know, and will run through the how to details on that for Windows 8.1 64 bit.

                                        4. Click on Options, to open the Folder Options dialog.

                                        6. Under the View Tab, scroll down to find the option "Show hidden files, folders, or drives" and make sure you have a dot next to it to enable it. Click OK to get out of there.

Is the immediate issue that you cannot find the Online Folder in Premiere Elements 11, 12/12.1, or 13/13.1 to get to the files for the Instant Movie theme named Outdoor Adventure?

                                            If yes, then......

Please look at the path that you have used and compare it to the path given in the blog post. Is there any possibility that you are starting on the path using Local Disk C\Program Files instead of Local Disk C\Program Data? You want the Program Data route.

Also, if you use the Break Apart Instant Movie command on the Timeline completed Instant Movie and open all the tracks. can you see the problem file that we are after (it should stand as you move the Timeline Indicator from left to right across the clip because of the colorful Media Offline display in the Timeline clip.

More, depending on the details in your next reply.
