I recently upgrade to the new Lightroom CC 2015 and have adjusted a few folders of images.
I need to get those adjustments back into the previous version of Lightroom (5.7) as Lightroom CC 2015 has turned out to be too slow and buggy to be used for production.
In the catalog settings, I have "Automatically write changes into XMP", however when I open the images in 5.7, the adjustments are not there.
Any advice appreciated.
Any LR CC catalog is unfortunately not backward compatible with earlier versions. It's probably best to export your work as tiff, PSD or DNG and then import those into LR5.
Import the photos into Lr5 and then in the menus do "Read Metadata from File" for these photos to force a read of the XMP data. This should apply most of the settings from your LR6 edited photos.
The same photos were already in the 5.7 version based catalog, so MetaData > Read Metadata from File did the trick.
