Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like comp settings, footage used and so on.
After you press the spacebar the first time, look in the Info panel: is there a message there, like "Mixing audio for preview"? If so, does the "cached preview needs 2 or more frames" warning only occur if you press the spacebar again while the Info panel displays that message?
If you are seeing that specific message in the Info panel, "Mixing audio for preview", if you wait for it to finish mixing the audio then preview should start.
Your answers to the above questions can help us define how we need to improve the preview system. We are already working on some related bugs for the July update to After Effects CC 2015 (13.5), but I don't know yet if the behavior you're seeing would be fixed. Thanks.
thats what I got with a dng sequence, imported in a Premiere project. The dng sequence only plays first frame, until I replace footage with the same dng sequence, imported as footage with sequence options as camera raw sequence. Then AE sees the sequence and plays properly.
or, I can force past the cache error and play the sequence without replacing footage, and just view the single frame (which is useless)
I am having the same issue. There is no audio in my project. I am just adding text to an empty comp. I have no idea what to do now. I have plenty of Ram and running iMac with Yosemite.
I'm having the same problem, and I only press the spacebar, or click the play button once. After about 1 second of doing so, and seeing the "Mixing audio for preview" text in the info window, I get the error message, "Cached Preview needs 2 or more ..." I've literally had this problem ever since I started using AE, only difference before CC 2015 was it was a RAM Preview not a Cached Preview. I need a solution.
I have been having the same problem and the only thing that worked for me is to quit PREM pro CC. Then I can render my AE project and open up PREM PRO again. is this a RAM issue? I HAVE 16 GIGS
so guess what!! I have the same #$#$%#$%#$% issue! this is how I solved it, both manually and from AE preferences clear cache, purge whatever that way is and make sure you have no other CC program open!!!! how annoying?! i constantly have to close illustrator and ps bc of this!!!!! but at least I can preview. so try it while you have AE open only....
same problem. have cleared all my cache. still same problem. The only reason im using after effects is because premiere pro no longer imports .swf so i have to go through a dynamic link with after effects but it is corrupting my files so they are then unusable in premiere pro......i have two days to complete this assignment and adobe is screwing me. Is there a fix for this yet?

Your CC subscription includes older versions all the way back to (and including) CS6. Install an older version to work with SWF files.
Although, I don't know what you mean by "corrupting" your files. That sounds like something we could help you get fixed fairly easily. I'd suggest not using Dynamic Link at all. Just render an intermediate file out of AE.
For persistent causes of this issue, today's bug fix update should solve it.
