I'm getting the exact same message from Mississauga Public Library and I've trying at it for 2.5 hrs I need my books. I having doing this with the library for over a year at least once a week. Tonight is the first time of this problem. I even tried a few books and got the same message for everyone of them.
If you can share the screenshot of the exact error message it will help us to suggest solution or root cause for the error message.
The message shows up on the screen of my Kobo when I try to initially open the downloaded ebook from the library. I don't know how to do a screen shot of the Kobo screen.
Please provide that error message that appears in KOBO
"This document is protected by DRM and is not currently authorized for use with your Adobe ID. Please sign in with the authorized Adobe ID and try again."
Please activate KOBO with the same Adobe ID used to fulfill the book.
Also please let us know the version of ADE you are using.
I was having this problem too with my Kobo. The book would show up on the ADE app on my computer and I was able to transfer the book unto my Kobo but when I tried to read it I would get the same error message you got saying it was not "currently authorized for use..."
I tried a few different options and found one that worked: I deauthorized the Kobo reader (via the ADE app on my computer), ejected the Kobo reader from my computer, powered it off completely, reconnected it to my computer, reauthorized it via the ADE software and the problem was fixed.
HiThank you for your help and idea. I followed your steps and that part worked fine. End result books still won't open. I get the same exact message. Please help. It is now 7 days. Is there a customer support phone # that someone can walk me through this? Thanks for your time and help.
I am using version 4.0 of ADE.
I don't know what you mean by "activate" Kobo with the Adobe ID, I just click the Kobo Icon on my desktop. I've had it on my desktop for a while and have downloaded numerous books. This happened all of a sudden. Finished a book. "Touched the screen on the reader to open the next and can't I have tried with other books thinking maybe it's just one in particular but same thing. It happened last Friday as the library books sit timing out. I got the reader as I need the larger print so the reader was the answer as the selection of large print is very limited. Very frustrating and I'm not in a position to just go out and buy another reader because of some sort of tech. reason. Help
I have activated Kobo with ADE ID
I have made sure that I have updated software for both, I now have ADE ver. 4.03 I believe or whatever the latest download is.
Made sure that this is the only ADE version on my computer as I read that there may be a compatibility issue with older versions on the system.
I have successfully un/re authorized
I have removed problem ebook from Kobo
Gone back to the source (library) and downloaded book
Put book from ADE onto Kobo
The book DOES open on my desk top Mac Mini.........................
DOES NOT open on Kobo ............. exactly same as 7 days ago
I may have spoken too fast... I thought I had gotten rid of the problem but today a new library book I had on hold became available, so I downloaded it, started up ADE 4.03, added the book to my library then to my Kobo... and got the error message again!
"Oops! This document couldn't be opened. This doc is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) and is not currently authorized for use with your Adobe ID. Please sign-in with the authorized Adobe ID and try again."
I tried to open the library books that worked fine when I added them yesterday... and I got the same message!
Just like susane88222726 I can open the books and read them on my desktop (iMac27 running 10.9.5) but I couldn't read them on my Kobo.
So I went through a series of trial and error. I deauthorized my Kobo than authorized it again. I figured it fixed the problem yesterday so it would work today, right? Nope. Got the same error message.
I deleted all the books from the Kobo AND the ADE library, downloaded them again, transferred them on ADE and my Kobo. Got the same error message.
On my iMac, I went through the "Digital Editions" folder that archives all the epub files and deleted the ones related to the problematic books. Went back to my online public library, downloaded the books again, transferred them to ADE and my Kobo and now it works. Why? I don't know.
There is obviously something unstable in ADE 4.03 that makes it work one day and not the other.
I don't know of any Adobe phone number you can call but I've had help in this forum from Adobe employees in the past, so hopefully they'll come around with a fix very soon.
Yes, I just went through the whole procedure again but with me, no luck and I'm going between 2 different books, just in case one just doesn't work. I also deleted every ebook file on my computer as you had said before going through the whole procedure. Very frustrating as I have waited for these 2 since March and they are running out of time. Why isn't this problem being addressed as a priority, obviously the problem isn't unique to myself only. It should be considered a serious issue as I have a reader, I just can't use it to read anything.
Was this problem ever resolved? I have the same issue but only with library books. Purchased and stored Calibre books are okay.
Doesn't seem like it's been resolved. I get the same described problem from 2 books out of 3 that I borrow online from my provincial library.
