I am working on a multi page catalogue with client-provided InDesign 5.5 (windows) files generated from a data management system called STEP trailblazer. When I open the document and edit any of the tables, the rows expand slightly so the tables overset in the frame. I've found that selecting the rows and changing the baseline offset from 'ascent' to 'cap height' solves the problem, however it's painfully time consuming doing hundreds of individual tables. Any ideas on how to easily stipulate a global setting?

You can only change the setting on existing cells. Setting a global default is not possible. You may be able to seek out a scripted solution to that.
I thought there might be a workable Find/Change option, but as far as I can tell, table cell settings are off limits to the Find/Change routine.
