First, so any one else who is reading this does not get confused, you mean LRCAT (the Lightroom catalog files) and LRDATA (the preview cache)
If you want to incorporate photos from a Windows computer into a Mac Lightroom catalog, you would simply copy the photos to the MAC, and then import them into Lightroom on the Mac.
If all the images where originally in the LR catalog file (as noted above that is lrcat (Small L not an i)) the Cat file is looking for the image on a DRIVE LETTER. Which OS X doesn't use. It uses Drive Names. So all you have to do is right click and select "Update Folder location" and point it to the Drive Name and main folder your images are in.
Having done all that was suggested, the problem remains unresolved. After following all suggestions, the pictures having been located, are not displayed in the Lightroom import window. To display the pictures, which have been located in finder, it is necessary to backup and close the catalogue. When the catalog is reopened, the pictures are then displayed.
