    May Be Damaged alert

    christines1087969

After working all day in InDesign, the files now say "...may be damaged" when I try and launch them ALL of them? How do I recover this? Is there an Patch of this? This happened a few months back too but can't recall how it was fixed or if an update it fia

What is the EXACT error message, the version of InDesign, and your OS?

Have you tried the simple stuff, like rebooting the computer, copying the files to the desktop, or open as a copy?

            OSX Yosemite.

            Adobe InDesign CC 2015

Yes, I have tried all the simples stuff.

It says (file name) may be damaged. Do you want to open anyway?

If I say OK, it goes through a series of comments like “document contains an invalid frame”

And then InDesign CC unexpectedly quits and spits out a long report.

Any answer I choose, nothing will open it. It won’t open my backup files that I had on the desktop either.

I am on deadline, I am now behind and very stressed out.

This happened a few months ago and then InDesign had an update which had fixed it.

I downloaded the new version last week and it has been unstable ever since.

I get this alert no before it goes to the “file may be damaged alert”

            HELP!!!

Try reinstalling CC 2014 (if it was uninstalled) and see if you get lucky opening the files in that version (the latest update should be able to open the files even if saved in CC 2015, as long as they aren't really damaged).

When I tried to find the 2014 version of InDesign on CC, is was not there ANYWHERE.

I was able to get old files off of our Time Machine and had to reupdate them.

I think the problem may have originated from working off of drop box instead of directly from my hard drive – my bad – I guess it made InDesign unstable???

Time will tell if this proves to be case and I will let you know.

                Thanks for trying to help.

                  Hi Christine,

Were you (or anyone else on this thread) ever able to find out what was causing this issue? I am having the same trouble/error code (document contains an invalid frame). I chatted with Adobe and they were unable to assist. It's happening for files saved both on a server as well as locally on my computer.

NO! And I am still having issues. I sure wish someone at Adobe would get this figured out!

Frustrating. I have been to Adobe Support's chat 3 times now - no one can resolve the issue. I get responses stating to only use assets and files saved locally on my computer. This doesn't make sense, as otherwise why would products like the Cloud and Adobe Experience Manager exist? Their next step was to tell me to create an additional user on my PC. This also doesn't make sense. It seems they're just deflecting, since they can't find an answer.

I am currently on hold (phone call) with Adobe Support. Will update if a solution comes through.

Please let me know if you find out anything useful. Agreed, none of it makes any sense.
