I think, InDesign CC-2015 has some problems with some TT fonts* incuded in placed EPS files. A bug. There are some reports on this in the regular Adobe InDesign Forum. This here is the scripting forum for InDesign.

So I want to ask you: Has your problem to do with scripting?

You asked for help: The only solution right now is going back to InDesign CC-2014.

Or changing your workflow: Use PDFs instead of EPS graphics.

I want to add, that in the meanwhile I could rebuild the problem with a logo I built in Adobe Illustrator CC using the HelveticaNeue TTF font family on OSX 10.10.3.

This is really a severe bug and will affect many people dealing with EPS files where TrueType fonts are encoded in a Type42 wrapper PostScript code.

Here an example for the code in the EPS that is forcing the issues in CC-2015 v11.0.0 and v11.0.1:

            %ADOBeginSubsetFont: HelveticaNeue Initial
            ct_T42Dict begin
            -0.348 -0.211 1.086 0.949
            256 array 0 1 255 {1 index exch /.notdef put} for  /HelveticaNeue
            Type42DictBegin

            What is going wrong?
Every text encoded as Type42 in EPS files placed is not visible in InDesign.
Every text encoded as Type42 in EPS files placed will not be exported to PDF.

            Any workarounds?

            Print to PostScript.

            Distill to PDF.

However I am not sure, if this is exactly the same issue you are seeing in your EPS.

It could be more bugs than the one I documented above.

@R-Bala-Krishnan – and it could be well a bug only visible on OSX.

What is your version of OS?

Maybe related, at least it sounds a bit like this:

                  Hi,

                  OS: Windows 8.1

App: Adobe InDesign CC 2015 (11.0.1.105)

                  Font used:

                  Untitled1.png

                  Untitled.png

Some character showing us missing glyph. Output is okay if PS-->PDF. If use export PDF output like F°°A°S−°2

                  Regards,

Hm. Well, that's another bug I did not encounter yet.

                    Very strange indeed.

The missing characters (glyphs) do not seem to be any special characters…
Can you show some PostScript code inside the EPS where the font is encoded?

What is the creator app of the EPS?

Laubender Adobe Community Professional & MVP

I can confirm the bug after inspecting some sent over EPS files.

The provided EPS files are absolutely working fine with InDesign CS5.5, CS6 v8.1, CC v9.3 and CC-2014.2.

                          Not so with InDesign CC-2015 v11.0.1 !

I tried to change the game and saving the provided EPS files with PostScript Level 3, but hit the same problem and bug I already described in my answer #2 here.
This time ALL the fonts were missing in viewing the placed EPS. Also after exporting to PDF. Not so with printing to PostScript and distilling to PDF afterwards.

Not to my surprise, inspecting the PostScript Level 3 EPS revealed this portion of code:

                          %ADOBeginSubsetFont: Arial-BoldMT Initial
                          ct_T42Dict begin
                          -0.625 -0.375 2 1.008
                          256 array 0 1 255 {1 index exch /.notdef put} for  /Arial-BoldMT
                          Type42DictBegin

So saving the AI files in PostScript Level 3 worsened the issue!

Not to say, that PostScript Level 2 EPS files have no issues; they have! Especially when it comes to gradients.

So I think, the bug R-Bela-Krishnan is seeing here is indeed the same one I saw with Type42 PostScript code, but in a different disguise.

                          Uwe
