- Set up a paragraph style with a basic font.
- Set up a character style with the bold form of the paragraph. Leave everything blank except font family and style. (If you use the same font family you can even leave this blank too.)
- Go back to the paragraph style (or create another one, based on the one created in step 1. Go to the nested style section, choose the character style, select up to (to exclude the dot) or over to include the dot, in the next field write 1 to limit or count the appearance of the characters in the next field, in the last field write ".!?" This will use the character style when a . or ! or ? appears in the text.
I would change Willi's step three to the simpler apply through 1 sentence.
