Please help. Do you know if I can recover an InDesign file when I get the message: cannot add data to "unknown document". Is there any way to recover? I was doing "save as" to a USB and then I "saved as" from the USB to the computer again and then the file was corrupt. I tried to open in another computer with a newer version of InDesign and nothing. I tried restarting and cleaning the preferences but nothing...please help.
No, if the file is corrupt your are probably lost. You have to go back to your last backup.
Thank you Willi. That's what I thought, I was just hoping... I am glad I created a pdf just before the crash so I can recreate it. My copy got corrupted too! This "save as" is not good sometimes.
It is always a risk to save directly to an external drive like USB stick, server, etc. I save it always first on my computer. I use also Dropbox as such a service helps with versioning.
