Hmm, what you see in the recording should show up in the playback. Could you post a screen capture video (e.g. using QuickTime player or other capture software) showing the problem? (Or even just a few before/after screen shots?)

Here is a quick screen capture that I did with one of my characters. I've done the same test with the Adobe provided Character Animator file and I get the same problems.

Thanks for the screen capture, that really helps show the problem, which is that any changes you make while playback is stopped don't get recorded. That, combined with the mouse tracking recording relative movement means that when you rewind and play back your recording, the hands start at their rest pose rather than at the place you positioned them before recording.
We're working on a fix for this. In the meantime, when using Hold in Place for the mouse tracker, you have to do all of your drags while recording, and not while stopped. Sorry about that!
I don't mind having to first hit record and then set the mouse tracker points--I do consider that a workable solution for the time being.
