Page number moves after master applied

    lesliek89572390

I have a document with all of my master page style.

      A-Master has page numbers

B-First Page of Chapter is based on A (title)

C-Next Pages is based on A (allows headers)

Next step...Add a new document and save it.

Synchronize it to the previous document.

When I apply C-Next pages the page #s move.

3 screen shots...the original C-Next Pages, the C-Next Pages in the document. The applied C-Next pages.

      Any thoughts?

The document with the master styles is basically the same one I used in a previous book...the only difference is page size. This book is smaller. The previous book didn't have a problem.

This is probably something simple...but I can't see it.

      Thanks

I would strongly recommend to do the following changes:

          master.png

          1. Keep the header's and page number's frame complete outside the page margins. You don't want to overlap text with any page number as it would happen now.
          2. Align the header's and page number's frame exactly with the margin. If you need a distance, do it with the text frame options. Save these properties in an Object Style, at least one Object Style for headers, one for page numbers. This Alignment will allow a correct layout adjustment.
          3. Include in the Object Style the correct Paragraph Style, one for the Header, one for the Page Number.

Even if this is not the complete solution to your problem, but it allows to work clean, and to be honest, I think your primary problem will disappear with this kind of work, as the source of such problems is the kind of work without using styles and using margin guides for adding stuff into InDesign. As I work always so, I get never these kind of problems.

Not exactly what I was hoping to do.

            Thanks

              What else did you hope.
