The sound UI is actually created by the operating system--iOS, Mac OS X, Android, what-have-you. Fortunately, the controller is the size of the sound frame in InDesign. Solution: Make the sound frame 1x1-pixel and well out of the way, like in the lower corner. Thus, invisible player!

I solved the problem by making an object with no fill and border and grouped it with the sound object in the paste board.
