Can you be more specific about the instructions you followed?
For instance, did you delete the BadDriver.txt file?
It's hard to advise you when you haven't told us specifically what you've already done.
I downloaded program. (extremely slow about 3 hours)
I installed program , again very slow – surprised how long it was taking; gave me a bad feeling something was not correct
Program will start – after a minute I get the message the driver is out of date.
At this point I removed program and reinstalled. Pretty much same installation story – very slow.
I went to my driver update panel to check for update. Driver is GEForce 6150 SE nforce 430 from NVIDIA.
I tried to update but says it updated.
I went to computer on my run screen and tried to update that way but again it says it is updated.
I went to run screen and enter baddriver – but it finds nothing that says baddriver.
I tried baddriver.txt but again it finds nothing.
I searched to see if I have more than one graphic car in the computer but only see one in the device manager.
Are you saying that you haven't deleted the BadDriver file because you haven't found it? Have you set the Show Files option in Folder Options?
Which version of the program are you using and on what operating system?
Check out ATR's excellent article on locating this file.
•Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
•For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
•-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
I followed instructions and found the baddrivers file. I deleted it.
Still no luck. Same thing happens. Premier elements 13 opens - i click new project.
in about a minute i get same message to update driver.
I went to NVIDIA home page and checked all. Everything is updated.
I have windows 7 system 64 bit.
That's very strange -- mainly because the BadDriver issue was pretty much resolved in version 12!
I'm not sure what's going on, Virgil. But I'd expect it's most likely an nVidia issue, since there are virtually no other reports of this happening in version 13.
Maybe ATR has a suggestion.
Where is the update message coming from according to the title in the pop up
Is your video card/graphic card on an automatic NVIDIA driver update program?
Depending on the answer, have you looked at uninstalling and reinstalling the NVIDIA driver.
You wrote that your NVIDIA card is GEForce 6150 SE nforce 430 from NVIDIA.
Is the card being named specifically in the Update Driver message? In this message, is there an error code included?
Just a "thinking about" at this time, but I am wondering if the message is related to Windows not being able to complete an update to a latest driver version so it keeps asking you to update (essentially try again). In this case, I am wondering if going to Device Manager/Display Adapters/NVIDIA card and its Driver Tab and rolling back the driver version would stop a stuck updating process and get rid of the messages?
For other, I am not sure what change of settings is possible in a possible NVIDIA Control Panel on your computer. Are you eligible for NVIDIA and/or HD support relating to video card/graphics card issue?
Please review and consider, and then I will think about this some more.
well i have done everything.
I rolled back the driver. then i reinstalled it.
i removed bad driver folder. every time i try to start the program it creates a new bad driver folder.
the error is a adobe error - incompatible driver - update driver. no name of graphics card or driver. just a basic message.
Thanks for working with the suggested troubleshooting.
It is normal for the BadDrivers.txt file to be a new BadDrivers.txt file to be generated after you have deleted it and open the project again.
Did you go through the drill of restarting the computer after the deletion and before you reopened Premiere Elements?
The rationale behind deleting the BadDrivers.txt file is given in post 10 of the following older thread which applies to version 9 and others.
Besides Premiere Elements 13/13.1, do you have any other Premiere Elements versions on your computer? If so, are you getting the same display card error as you are getting from 13/13.1? Have you ever used a version of Premiere Elements 9 or later on the computer with your present NVIDIA card?
I am thinking about having you download and install Premiere Elements 11, using tryout files that I can point your to and determine if you get the same display card error message. But, I need to call it a day. What is stopping me from asking you to do that is the fact that you say that the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 tryout worked OK for you in your present computer environment.
Although the error message that you are getting is typically specific to a video card/graphics card issue, we could explore the outcome from
a. Program uninstall the usual Control Panel way
b. Free ccleaner run through (regular and registry cleaner parts)
c. reinstall with antivirus and firewalls disabled.
I will revisit your thread in the morning morning, and we can discuss this further.
I tried all again.
when i delete the bad driver file it is gone. then i exit out and open 13 - i get the message again. I go back in and check and the baddriver file is now there again.
I have used Adobe for years and Typically update. I used to have 9 and 10 for elements and it did work. But i deleted before i downloaded 13, going through all these issues i also deleted the reminder of the files from 9 and 10.
I have 10 on my laptop which works (slowly) but no issues(anyways does not relate to this issue).
I have 12 for Photoshop which works perfect.
If it matters- i downloaded from Amazon and I am currently in the Philippines on assignment.
I have Sophos protection which was installed at Staples i think in the USA about 3 years ago.
I did a scan today and came up no issue.
Thanks for the update with important information about your issue.
If you have not already, please look at your issue with and without the antivirus disabled.
and depending on those results...
Please consider the uninstall/reinstall as described in post 9, but, for the reinstall.....
If you have not already, please consider download and installing installation files for version 13 from either of the following links and then inserting your purchased serial number into them during installation.
