    Rotating a Blurred MovieClip

    bashi-bazouk Level 1

Hi, I have a nested movieClip that is blurred on one axis (Y)

When rotating this parent clip, the blur remains as a pure Y direction

Is it possible to enable the blur direction to rotate along with the parent clip ?

You may convert your inner Symbol to a Bitmap after applying filter to it, in case there's no animation within your Symbol. After this, rotating the parent Movieclip will also rotate the axis of the applied filter.

This was actually a problem previously. You can see in this old thread something similar to what you're talking about. What Flash version/OS are you using? It may be as simple as updating Flash.

When you apply that filter, it's going to rotate, as expected, with the parent. To keep it continuously in a certain rotation you'll need to determine the parents rotation and re-apply the filter taking that into consideration. If it's a complex clip then you probably will suffer FPS-wise from doing that frame to frame but it really entirely depends. To my knowledge, there is no automated way to tell a Flash MovieClip to adjust filter settings based on the parents orientation. Think of the inverse. If you rotated a parent and all your filters ignored the rotation, that would be very unexpected.
