How to convert a placed Microsoft Word doc's spaces with proper indentations?

      Dear Community,

In the Microsoft Word document I placed in an InDesign document, I noticed that there were places where

spaces were depicted that I could not see in the Word doc.

I replaced them with various combinations of white em and en dashes and so on, but the ms I'm working on

has a lot of these to convert, and I'm wondering if there's an easier way to do it than the way I am.

I JUST EXPERIMENTED WITH AN ADOBE PDF pre-set to see if NOT replacing the dashes makes a difference,

and the PDF was identical to the document I exported.

So why am I continuing to ask for help? Because I would like to know if the document is fit for offset and digital printing.

If so, then I am reminded of Mark Twain's "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education."

      Thank you very much,
