‘Place’ (command + D) dialogue box default size

    Level 1

The default size of the dialogue box for ‘place’ is too small (screenshot 1).

Is there a way to keep an expanded ‘place’ dialogue window (screenshot 2), so when I go back to the place dialogue window it automatically comes up in the expanded size every time?

This was never a problem on my old imac computer 2.5 ghz with Mountain Lion. After getting a new imac, 3.2 ghz with Yosemite, Indesign 5.5 seems to not want to keep the expanded dialogue window size for PLACE.

Other finder dependent commands open in the small dialogue window view also, for example, File > Open.

Although ‘Save As’ and ‘Export’ open in expanded views, which is preferable.

*Photoshop by comparison, keeps the size of the expanded window for ‘Save As’ and ‘Open,’ after initially opening in the default small dialogue window view. Wish Indesign would behave the same.

Here's the issue: You're using an old, now unsupported version of InDesign. You probably don't want to hear this but CS5.5 is now 4 or 5 years old. With each new version of Mac OS X, more features like that will probably not work the way you like. CS5.5 will never get updates.

You have two choices. You can continue to use CS5.5 and put up with these small deficiencies, or you can upgrade to the Creative Cloud versions.
