This is what the "Polite" preloader (not "Immediate") is supposed to achieve ..however, I can't make it work with video assets
Changing to polite preloader was one of the first things I had tried.
However when loading up one of the non-preloaded symbols, I can see the images being loaded (and i'm assuming the same happens to audio).
The following is a thought I just had, if you have any opinion on this please let me know:
If I put the symbols I want preloaded onto the stage I believe it will preload them correctly.
however I have code in the creationComplete that should not run if loaded this way.
Is there a way to skip over this event action?
That does sound like something that would make the image preload work ..just not audio or video as I've already tried that for them.
I'd first try just getting something to work before juggling your creationComplete code ..maybe just comment it out for now?

Still unable to get the images/audio/video to preload correctly.
Does anyone have a way to tell the preloader to load specific symbol's assets?
Another way I'm thinking to achieve this is to put symbols in stage initially and after preload remove them. Problem is the code in those symbols are running and causing errors. Is there a way to load just the assets(images, media) of a symbol?
