Need to detect first non-transparent pixel from edge of PNG, then place watermark at that position

I have a large series of PNG images that will all have fixed dimensions.  They all have transparency surrounding a center object. I need to position the watermark about half on half off the bottom edge of the object.

The watermark is a fixed dimension layer (no effects), smaller than the main image.

So I would need to run an algorithm that works its way up the center of the main layer looking for the first non-transparent pixel, then position the watermark layer relative to that, combine, and save out as a transparent PNG again.  Are there any existing scripts that could help with this?  I know some about scripting, but not in PhotoShop.
