    Lightroom running extremely slow

      system specs:

      processor: AMD FX 8350 5ghz

      Graphics card :AMD R9 270X

      16 gigs of ram

      windows 10

It seems to be in every part of lightroom from navigating the library to editing photos.

For example when using the brush tool every stroke takes about a full second to actually make the mark and sometimes it wont even make the stroke. At this point its almost unusable.

I have tried optimizing my catalog and a few various other things all of which did nothing.

My next step would probably be to reinstall Lightroom.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Brushing can cause slowness if you are performing a lot of brushing on an image, and turning on the Graphics acceleration will actually make the response of Lightroom SLOWER with respect to brushing. Also, lots of brushing can slow down the operation of the Library module as well, because it has to generate previews in the background.

So first thing to try is to turn off the Graphics acceleration.

But also, if you do a lot of brushing, do it in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, and not in Lightroom.

Reinstalling Lightroom is a waste of time with respect to this issue.

You are running Windows 10... so update your video card driver. This could be enough.
