Do your images in the Lightroom Library Module have an exclamation point or question mark icon in the rectangle surrounding them? Do your folders have a question mark icon on them? If so, the answer is explained here: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
And if there are no question marks or exclamation points, then I don't understand your problem and it would be good if you could provide a lot more details, and screen captures if possible.
Thank you. Originally, "Pictures" on my MacBook had subfolders for each of 9 days and thumbnails showed properly. LCat catalog was in a different folder. Preparing to move images and catalog from McBook to desktop, I moved the 9 image folders to a subfolder in the same folder as LCat. LR then displayed the blanks below. No folders below the Pictures folder, no image count shown in Pictures, no thumbnails. I never saw "!" or "?" symbols (although I have on past occasions.) Keywords remained. After reading one article, I tried to rename the Pictures folder and discovered that it is not possible. I can't find a way to redirect LR to look elsewhere. for the photos. The image files are still there, but I fear the LR work I've done will be lost. Your help is appreciated.
You have opened an empty catalog.
You can try the following two steps to open the proper catalog file.
- Use File->Open Recent, open all catalogs listed there
- if that doesn't work, you need to find the proper catalog file using your operating system, and then double-click on it to open it.
Thank you very much. I now have question marks and exclamation points that I can resolve. Your help and expertise are much appreciated.
