Hi Alessandro... Was this on a machine that had After Effects and Character Animator installed after upgrading to Windows 10 or before?
Can you try updating using this method: in Character, choose Help > Updates. This opens the Adobe Application Manager. Character Animator (Preview) should be listed as a separate update. Try updating that way.
If that doesn't work, can you try signing out of the Creative Cloud application (not just quitting it), then signing back in to see if that makes a difference?
If the problem still exists, let me know and we can try collecting some additional log files to debug the issue.
thank's for reply.
Before upgrading to windows 10 (after effects and caharacter animator previews 1 was installed on the machine)
Trying updating using method Character, choose Help > Updates (it open application manager with separate update and update correclty) but start the program same result (it open preview 1)
signing out of the Creative Cloud application (and update charcater animator) same result (it open preview 1)
Hmm, if you go back to Character's Help > Updates menu, does it still show the update for Preview 2? If you open a Windows Explorer window, then navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Character Animator (Preview)\Support Files\, select Character Animator.exe, right-click it and choose Properties, then switch to the Details tab, what does the File description, File version, and Product version say?
if I go back to Character's Help > Updates menu, it open application manager but it don't have an update notify to Preview 2? If restart the PC it show a notify to update tp Preview 2.
the File description, File version, and Product version say: Character Animator Preview 1, version: 22.214.171.1240, character Animator 1.0.0
Hmm, something might be failing silently. We'd need to get some additional information to troubleshoot the issue:
- Quit the Creative Cloud and Character Animator applications.
- In your :\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\ folder, open the AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file in a text editor.
- Look for a line near the top of the file that says: <LogLevel>2</LogLevel>
and change the 2 to 10
- Save the file.
- Launch the Creative Cloud application, then try the update again.
- If it fails, just quit the update, archive the files (in the :\Users\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\ folder) with .log in the name to a single .zip file, then send me a link to them. Please send the link via direct message.

Hi Alessandro... I can't get attachments here when replying to forum posts via e-mail. Would it be possible to send me a Dropbox (or similar) shared link that I can use to download the log files? Thanks.
I worked with Alessandro separately. All of the normal procedures didn't work, but he was able to update to Preview 2 after using the CC Cleaner script. Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
