Lightroom 6 is not an update to Lightroom 5, it is an upgrade which you have to purchase.   Visit the link below to purchase...

Thanks, Ned.

I realized that Lr6 was a cost item but could not figure out how to order it.

Turns out (with Adobe's chat support) I got the UPGRADE installed today.

Trick is that one must follow the trail of ordering the entire FULL version and then,

at the next-to-last screen, change from FULL to UPGRADE through dropdown menu.

Very tricky and not user-friendly at all for Adobe's support page interface.

Not intuitive, but then Adobe wants us to order FULL version or subscribe to CC.

Thanks for the 'update versus upgrade' clarification.

'Full and upgrade' are Adobe's vocabulary between major releases.

You're welcome Burnette.  The link I provided gives you access to buy the upgrade directly without having to contact Adobe support.  You select the Buy option and then change the Full selection to be Upgrade instead.
