I know web addresses in the text can be automated but I add hyperlinks to each advertiser's entire ad — the whole add needs to be clickable (not just the hyperlink contained in the ad). I hyperlink the frame of the ad in preparation to post it on the web. It is pretty tedious to do this one by one even though inDesign is remembering my previously used hyperlinks. Any ideas appreciated!
Well, text url's are automated because (when) they meet the required format...there is something to trigger the automatic setting of the hyperlink. With a not-text frame, InDesign has no way of "knowing" what is contained within, and would quite literally have to read your mind in order to do anything automatic in the way of hyper-linking.
I was thinking of something along the lines of the way captions can be auto-generated based on metadata. No need to be rude.
No rudeness intended. Sorry if it came off that way.
