I recently purchased a Canon 5DS R and was surprised to find that the camera is not supported by Lightroom for tethered capture. It seems to be impossible to ask this question directly to Adobe and I'm a little miffed that I am going to have to purchase Capture One software to get tethered capture support for my camera (when I am already paying for a full CC subscription). So the question is; Does anyone know if an efforts are being made to make tethered capture in Lightroom compatible with the Canon 5DS R? Would love to know this before I purchase Capture One.
Tethered capture support ALWAYS comes out after the Camera is released as the SDK is never released before.
If you like you can create a watched folder in Lightroom, which will do automatic imports, and use the EOS Utility that came with the camera until Lightroom comes out with support ...
As BKKDon points out, Adobe cannot start working with the new camera until Canon updates their SDK for public use. Same with Nikon and the others.
Adobe never publicly discusses software release schedules.
