There is no unresolved problem. AE traditionally does not deal with certain accelerated ( DirectDraw etc.) CoDecs. It's a conscious decision because this stuff is simply too much trouble and not compatible with AE's rendering pipeline. You need to use other conversion tools.
but i use ae for years now, and always rendered quicktime files with dxv codec without any trouble... and why does it work on my notebook but not on my main computer?
notebook is quite old and slow... i would need weeks to render every file...
I have the same issue. Its really strange, still trying to figure out how to get the codec into AE...
