Update flash player "Adobe download mgr encounter problem and needs to close"

When trying to update Adobe Flash Player, I have to save the update file to the download folder.  When I try to open the file I get an error that the Adobe download manager encountered a problem and needs to close.  I meet the system requirements for flash player.  Pentium III, 933Mhz, Windows XP.  I did all of the stuff found in Adobe help with no success.  Can anybody help?

Hi garyl2061464,

The online installer isn't working on some XP machines.  The online installer team is aware of this and investigating.  In the mean time, please use the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page in the 'Still having problems' section.
