The DNG files and the folder they are in should be visible in the library module and in the develop module. If they are the last images that you imported you would like in the "Previous Import" section to see them. You would work on the DNG files. The backup of the original raw files is for archive purposes in the event that you lose your DNG files at some point in the future and need to replace them.
Then What's Next?
Nothing. The backups are just that, A Back Up of your images. They do not need to be and should not be imported into LR. They are a Back Up. Nothing more and nothing less.
If you want both the original RAW files and a DNG of those files then stop choosing Copy As DNG at import. Just chose Copy and then once the original RAW files are on your drive you can select them and make DNG copies of them. But If the version of LR you are using reads your original RAW files I don't see the point of making DNG files of them. Kind of redundant. You should make a Back Up of all your image file to an external drive, or even 2 of them. But these Back Ups should not be imported into LR.
Thanks of all your help!
I'll get back at it in the morning when my brain is a little clearer!
Really appreciate the speed at which you unscrambled me!
