    Flash Auto-update Doesn't Function

I'm working with a new tool in my corporate environment and we were concerned that it might break automatic Flash updating. I started running some tests and I found out that automatic updating doesn't seem to function even on machines without the tool. I thought maybe our proxy was blocking it, so I took a machine to an external connection, and still nothing. Searching around, I ended up at this old thread: Flash player silent auto update not working

Nothing I saw on that thread actually helped resolve the issue (we don't want to host updates internally, and that's where that discussion went) but it did give me the tip to turn on update logging in mms.cfg. Changing that and running the Autoupdate task, I got this:

Any idea why this isn't working?

          Hi DHarwell,

The log file does not show any errors.  If there was an error it would have 'error' instead of 'info'.  What version of Flash Player is currently installed? How are you manually triggering background updates?

I am currently running of both the NPAPI and ActiveX versions on this device. I tested by manually starting the Adobe Flash Player Updater scheduled task. I'm also seeing similar behavior (with slightly different info codes) on another machine running of the NPAPI plug-in only, but that device is a desktop and thus harder to eliminate the proxy by moving to an external connection.

              Hi DHarwell,

Are you using a proxy server?

Please upload the FlashInstall.log file for both machines using the instructions here The specified item was not found..  Please note which log file is from which machine.

We do use a proxy server, however I was able to take my machine outside the corporate network, test, and receive the same results.

I have uploaded the FlashInstall.log from my laptop, which is the machine I originally posted the cut/paste from. I see there are a couple of warnings showing up in there today, so maybe they will be of some help.

The other machine is a VM and has since needed to be reset. If another log is required, I can reproduce the same installs and steps, however it's stuck inside the corporate network so I don't know if it will be of use.
