I'm a newbie to After Effects, and have been searching for an effect for a color starburst logo that I have (see below). The idea is that energy would appear to be radiating out from the center, gently undulating in a continual loop over time. Not explosive pyrotechnics, but more shimmering, radiating, undulating.
I have the above logo image in vector format, but have been focusing on effects created by positioning an animated grayscale image below the jpeg logo and using a multiple effect, but the results aren't quite there, still looking for a little more power/grandeur/awe:
Any suggestions on an approach or plugin that would help get a more radiant effect? Thanks for any tips!
I would put each of your shapes on a separate layer in Illustrator. If the original file is all on one layer you can do this by selecting Release to Layers in the Layer Panel, then select all of the separate paths that have been turned into layers and drag them above the first layer. Now import as a comp in AE maintaining layer sizes. Then experiment with glow or blurred duplicates and blend modes on all of the layers. The key to a great effect like this is layering and blend modes. You could even sequence your layers to build the logo from the pieces.
Perhaps experiment with looping a Light Sweep that's been wrapped into a circle shape using Polar Coordinates or something, and then create an animating Factal Noise luma matte to give it some variation.
