I have created a HTML5 canvas animation in Flash CC and uploaded it to the web. While it works fine on desktop browsers, it is 2-4 times slower on mobiles. I have tested on both Android and Apple devices. I'm not referring to the loading time, it's the speed at which the animation plays.
I have previously worked on a similar project and did not have this problem.
Does anyone have any idea what could be happening?
It's possible that this time you used more vectors instead of bitmaps, or just more layers. Mobile devices are like very slow computers, so it's normal for HTML5 animations to not perform as well on mobile.
Are you able to show an example animation that plays well, and one that doesn't play well?
Thanks. I will try to cut down the layers. And maybe convert some into bitmaps. The one that plays well is much more simple.
layers are irrelevant.
the number of on-stage objects and their type and what they're doing and how they're doing it and your code are the relevant factors.
